Come descrivere la giornata di oggi? Supercalifragalisticexpialadoscious! Chiedo scusa a Mary Poppins se ho spagliato lo spelling.
Poco dopo le otto arriva in tuk-tuk gigante con 18 ragazzi tutti pronti a passare una bella mattina al mare /How can I describe today? Supercalifragalisticexpialidoscious! Sorry Mary Poppins if I’ve got the spelling wrong.
Just after 8 o’clock a giant tuk-tuk arrived at Kep beach with 18 very excited children ready to enjoy a morning on the beach.

Ovviamente a quel ora avevano fame e hanno fatto la prima colazione. Niente cappuccino e brioche, no, riso con  maiale, uova fritta e cetrioli. / Obviously at that time of day they were hungry and had to have breakfast. No cappuccino and brioche, no, rice, pork, omelette and cucumber.

Poi il mare. Dentro di corso con i vestite. Sei nuovi palloni per la spiaggia, su Nabil, grande e grosso si arrampicavano su le spalle per tuffarsi. Per fortuna l’acqua non è molto profondo. Stamattina toccava a teacher To a stare nel acqua come un bambino anche lui. / Then the sea. Racing in fully dressed. Six new beach balls. Nabil who is big and strong taking them on his shoulders so they can dive in. Fortunately it isn’t too deep. This morning was teacher To’s’ turn to go in the water and he was just as bad as the kids.

Troppo presto e ora di tornare a casa, rinforzati di succo d’arancia e jelly. / All too soon it’s time to go home. To sweeten the journey back orange juice and jelly.

Dopo un meritato riposo vicino la piscina di Spring Valley per 006 e mezzo e compagni Audrey e Rabin e pranzo sempre a Spring Valley con l’aggiunta di Sokkea siamo tornati su la spiaggia per aspettare la seconda mandata di ragazzi. Sono arrivati in due tuk-tuk giganti, 71 ragazzi e due insegnanti, altri due sono arrivati dopo con i loro motorini / After a well earned rest and drink by the pool side at Spring Valley for 006 and a half and two agents Audrey and Rabin plus lunch with the addition of Sokkea we went back to the beach to wait for the second group of kids, 71 plus two teachers, two others arrived with their motorbikes later

La spiaggia scottava sotto i piedi ma i ragazzi erano presto nell’acqua e anche noi. Chi nuotava, chi giocava a palla, chi arrivava con sacchetti di plastica con piccolissimi granchi, rimanevano male quando ho detto “bellissimi, bravo, ma poi lasciagli andare devono crescere”. / The sand burnt the soles of our feet but the kids were soon in the sea.some of them swimming, some playing ball, some coming with plastic bags to show me the tiny crabs and star fish they had captured and they were a little bit upset when I congratulated them but explained they must let them free before they went home as they had to  grow.

Era il torno di Chanta di andare nell’acqua con i ragazzi e anche lui era come un bambino. Nuotavo, andava sotto l’acqua, i ragazzi lo facevano di ogni, compreso seppellirlo nella sabbia. / It was Chantas turn to go in the water with the kids and he too was like a little boy. He swam, dived under the water and the children played all sorts of tricks on him as well as burying him in the sand.

Alla fine erano tutti stracotti e abbiamo distribuito acqua, succo d’arancia formaggini e pane. Anche Channy è arrivato con bibite. Posso dire che è stato una festa d’arriverderci a presto ben riuscito. / In the end they were all exhausted and we revived them with water, orange juice, creamy cheese and French bread. Even Channy brought some drinks and came to see us. All in all I think it was a really good “goodbye until the next time” party.

Ma non è la fine. Domenica andrò a vedere le prove di ballo e Lunedì lavoro come sempre anche se ci saranno meno ragazzi per via del Capo d’anno cinese. Non può essere male vivere in un paese dove celebrano il Capo d’anno occidentale, quello cinese è quello Khmer! / But that’s not the end. On Sunday I will go to school to see the dance practise. Monday work as usual even though there will be less children because it is the Chinese New Year. Can’t be bad living in a country where they celebrate occidental New Year, Chinese New Year and Cambodian New Year.
