Dormito bene ma tre ore alla volta. Prima colazione a bordo piscina poi sono partita con il cellulare impostato su Google maps per trovare il centro commerciale Aeon. Sono arrivata nonostante non ho trovato le strade che mi diceva ma mi sono consolata con il fatto che non ero l’unica Europea in giro col cellulare in mano ed un espressione perplessa. / Slept well three hours at a time. Breakfast by the pool side then I set off with my mobile in my hand set on Google maps to find my way to the Aeon commercial Center. I got there despite not finding the roads it was telling me but I consoled myself with the fact that I wasn’t the only European walking around mobile in hand with a perplexed expression.

Il centro commerciale e incredibile, grande e moderno ma il supermercato ritiene un atmosfera Asiatica. Ho passato la mattina girando per i scaffali di una cancelleria che specializza in libri Inglese e riempiendo il cartello con libri e flash cards per i bambini. Poi un giro accurato nel supermercato acquistando genere di sopravvivenza per il prossimo mese in mezzo agli risaie. Solo per il pranzo si intende, colazione e in albergo e cena dove mi va di andare. Ma a mezzogiorno devo portare almeno qualche biscotto e l’acqua. A causa di tre borsoni presenti sono stata costretta a prendere un tuk-tuk per tornare in albergo. Quando siamo arrivati aveva una gomma a terra. Colpa del mio dolce peso, di quello della spesa o entrambi! / The Center was fantastic, big and modern but the supermarket still had an Asian atmosphere.I spent the morning wandering round a book shop that specialises in English books and filling my trolley with books and flash cards for the children. Followed by a wander round the supermarket to buy myself things to keep body and soul together while I am in the middle of the rice paddies. Only for lunch time naturally, breakfast is in the hotel and dinner wherever the fancy takes me. But at lunch time I have to take at least crackers or biscuits and something to drink. Because of the three heavy bags I had to get a tuk-tuk back to the hotel. On arrival he had a flat tyre, due to my weight, that of the shopping or a combination of the two!

Nel pomeriggio, nonostante i 30 gradi ho fatto una lunga passeggiata  fino al Monumento dell’Indipendenza fino al fiume Mekong e il palazzo reale. Camminando con cautela su la strada incontro al traffico perché il marciapiede e sconnesso, usato come parcheggio e pieno di rifiuto di vari odori sgradevoli. Si questo è Phnom Penh. Ho cercato di tornare a piede ma ma quando avevo ancora un kilometre e mezzo, stanca, sudata e con mal di piedi ho rinunciato ed ho preso un tuk-tuk. Per riprendermi ho preso un mojito al mango, anzi due perché era Happy Hour. / In the afternoon, despite 30 degrees I took a long walk up to the Independence Monument then down to the Mekong river and along to the Royal Palace. Walking cautiously on the road, towards the traffic as the pavements are so rough and used as parking lots and full of rubbish of various nasty smells. Yes this is Phnom Penh. I tried to walk back but when I still had one and a half kilometres to go, tired, sweaty and with aching feet Igave upland got a tuk-tuk. To rivive myself I had a mango mojhito, in fact two as it was Happy Hour.
