La colazione la facciamo in un nuovo bar sulla strada delle saline di Kampot. Ci sono degli stranieri, europei, americani o australiani. Ci scambiamo un breve saluto. Mi guardano incuriositi dalla mia fiammante Kawasaki Ninja colore rosso. / We have breakfast at a new cafe on the salt flats road in Kampot. Tra Kampot e Kep si estendono le saline. Specchi d’acqua salmastra suddivisi in enormi rettangoli dove l’acqua viene lasciata a decantare per ottenere il prezioso bene rappresentato dal sale. E’ sempre affascinante passare da queste parti. Le ho viste ormai diverse volte ma ogni volta è piacevole passare da qui. Nel bar c’è una Honda 1.000 cc in vendita a 2.000 USD. Se vivessi qui, sarebbe già affare fatto. Il proprietario dell’attività la vende perchè ha 3 moto e non sa cosa farsene. / Between Kampot and Kep extend the salt pans. Lots of brackish water divided into huge rectangles where the water is left to decant in order to obtain the precious good represented by the salt. It is always fascinating to pass by these parts. I have seen them several times now but every time it is pleasant to pass by. In the bar there is a 1,000 cc Honda for sale for 2,000 USD. If I lived here, it would already be a done deal. The owner of the business is selling it because he has 3 bikes and doesn’t know what to do with them.

Riprendiamo la marcia verso il nostro centro. Arriviamo a Domnak Chamboak verso le 10 del mattino e come sempre c’è calma. / We resumed our march towards our center. We arrive in Domnak Chamboak around 10am and as always it is calm.

A pranzo ci facciamo portare un boccone direttamente in ufficio, da solito bar di campagna dove abbiamo mangiato nei giorni scorsi. Vogliamo massimizzare il tempo e continuare a lavorare, senza interrompere l’attività. C’è un sacco di roba da fare. Io devo vedere di fare le foto con i bambini del SAD e il team di lavoro deve continuare la preparazione della cerimonia di inaugurazione che sarà Lunedì della prossima settimana. / At lunch we get a bite to eat right in the office, from the usual country bar where we’ve eaten the past few days. We want to maximize our time and keep working, without interrupting. There is a lot of stuff to do. I have to see about taking pictures with the DAP kids and the work team has to continue preparing for the opening ceremony which will be Monday of next week.

I bambini, dopo l’usuale partenza un po’ guardinga e timorosa, adesso stanno prendendo confidenza. Quando faccio loro le foto sono scatenati. “Ruptort” “Foto” mi invitano a scattare altre foto e si mettono in posa con le dita a forma di V. Quando mostro le foto ridono a crepapelle. / The children, after the usual cautious and timid start, are now gaining confidence. When I take their pictures they go wild. “Ruptort” “Photo” they invite me to take more pictures and pose with their fingers in the shape of a V. When I show them the pictures they laugh out loud.

Alla fine della giornata viene organizzata la sessione fotografica dedicata ai bambini del Sostegno a Distanza, per fare le foto da inviare ai loro sponsor. Alcuni di quelli nuovi sono davvero timidini. Alcuni un po’ più sicuri di sè. Poi man mano arrivano quelli che conosco dagli anni scorsi. Arriva la piccola, bellissima Nita, che negli ultimi 4 anni è stata sulla nostra locandina di Io disegno per la Cambogia, testimonial eccellente delle nostre campagne di promozione. / At the end of the day, a photo session is organized for the Distance Support children to take pictures to send to their sponsors. Some of the new ones are really shy. Some a little more confident. Then, little by little, the ones I know from previous years arrive. Here comes little, beautiful Nita, who has been on our poster for Io disegno per la Cambogia for the past 4 years, an excellent testimonial for our promotional campaigns.

La giornata si chiude con l’ormai usuale “Goodby teeacheer. Seee youuuu tooomooorroooww” e la fila di manine giunte che passano a salutarmi. “Loak Kru, chumriaplia” “Maestro, arrivederci”. / The day ends with the now customary “Goodby teeacheer. Seee youuu tooomooorroooww” and the line of little joined hands that pass by to greet me. “Loak Kru, chumriaplia” “Master, goodbye”.
