Si terrà a Mariano Comense Domenica 16 ottobre l’evento con cui A Smile for Cambodia Onlus torna dopo 3 anni sul territorio.

Lo abbiamo intitolato Un Aquilone per la Cambogia.

Il Campione Mondiale di aquiloni Edo Borghetti sarà ancora una volta con noi, per insegnare ai bambini come si costruisce e si fa volare un aquilone.

La manifestazione inizierà alle ore 14 presso l’Oratorio Sacro Cuore di Via Sant’Ambrogio a Mariano Comense.

Alle 16.30 faremo l’estrazione dei biglietti vincenti della nostra lotteria di beneficenza.

Ci saranno la mostra fotografica e il nostro mercatino solidale con tanti oggetti provenienti dalla Cambogia.

Dal 20 al 23 Luglio si sono svolti a Bellusco i Campionati Italiani di pattinaggio corsa a rotelle. La nostra associazione è stata invitata a fornire il servizio fotografico ufficiale della manifestazione. / From July 20 to 23, the Italian roller skating race championships were held in Bellusco. Our association was invited to provide the official photo shoot of the event.

Grazie ad un ottimo team di fotografi, capitanato dal nostro presidente Franco Farao e composto dagli amici Alessandro Gatto, Marco Abis e Davide Iannarelli, tutti fotografi ormai sperimentati sulle piste di tutta Italia, ci è stato possibile fornire il servizio fotografico ufficiale dei campionati. Un grazie enorme ai ragazzi che hanno presidiato il nostro gazebo durante l’evento. Sono stati 4 giorni molto intensi, che adesso proseguono con tutto il lavoro di post produzione ed editing per l’invio delle fotografie ai numerosi atleti e genitori che hanno voluto contribuire con una donazione alla nostra associazione. / It was a very intense 4 days, now continuing with all the post production and editing work to send the photographs to the many athletes and parents who wanted to contribute a donation to our association.

Durante la manifestazione sono stati raccolti 425 euro per il nostro progetto a Kep in Cambogia e altre donazioni stanno man mano arrivando. Il bilancio dell’iniziativa sarà definitivo solo tra qualche giorno e contiamo sulla generosità degli amici del pattinaggio, per dare ancora più supporto alle nostre iniziative. / During the event 425 euros were raised for our project in Kep, Cambodia, and other donations are gradually coming in. The budget of the initiative will be final only in a few days and we count on the generosity of our rollerskating friends to give even more support to our initiatives.

Venerdì 11 Marzo, partirà la prima missione in Cambogia post pandemia. L’ultima missione a Kep era stata compiuta dalla nostra Jane Hartley con la nostra associata Fernanda Elli, all’inizio del 2020, con un rientro in Italia rocambolesco e appena in tempo prima del primissimo lockdown. / On Friday, March 11, the first post-pandemic mission to Cambodia will start. The last mission to Kep was carried out by our Jane Hartley with our associate Fernanda Elli, at the beginning of 2020, with a daring return to Italy just in time before the very first lockdown.

Questa volta sarà il nostro presidente Franco Farao a partire per la Cambogia per un ritorno sul campo, dopo un lungo periodo di stop dovuto a motivi di lavoro (2019) e alla pandemia (2020 e 2021). L’ultima missione del presidente a Kep risale infatti a novembre del 2018. / This time it will be our president Franco Farao who will leave for Cambodia for a return to the field, after a long period of stop due to work reasons (2019) and the pandemic (2020 and 2021). La missione in Cambogia, a dire la verità, ha avuto un prologo con il viaggio di Franco a Parigi all’Ambasciata Cambogiana in Francia, per il visto di lavoro per l’ingresso in Cambogia. Dato che a tutt’oggi il Ministero degli Esteri Italiano vieta viaggi per turismo in Cambogia, è stato necessario, anche ai fini assicurativi, procurare un visto per motivi di lavoro. / The mission to Cambodia, to tell the truth, had a prologue with Franco’s trip to Paris to the Cambodian Embassy in France for a work visa for entry into Cambodia. Lunedì 21 Febbraio è pertanto partita la spedizione ASC Onlus con il decollo da Malpensa alla volta di Parigi. All’Ambasciata Cambogiana a Parigi l’accoglienza è stata delle migliori e le pratiche per l’ottenimento del visto sono state molto spedite e senza sfronzoli burocratici. Gli amici cambogiani sanno essere “dolci” quando si tratta di agevolare le nostre missioni umanitarie in Cambogia. / On Monday, February 21st, the ASC Onlus expedition took off from Malpensa airport for Paris. At the Cambodian Embassy in Paris, the welcome was one of the best and the paperwork for obtaining the visa was very quick and without any bureaucratic fuss. Cambodian friends can be “sweet” when it comes to facilitating our humanitarian missions in Cambodia.

In occasione della presenza del presidente in Cambogia vogliamo accompagnare questa missione con il lancio di una campagna straordinaria di raccolta fondi per il supporto della nostra attività sul campo e degli investimenti ancora necessari per il nostro Centro Diurno di Kep. La raccolta fondi avrà il titolo “Un mattone per i bimbi di Kep” che sarà anche la causale da inserire nelle donazioni che farete, speriamo numerosi, durante la nostra campagna di raccolta che si chiuderà con il nostro pranzo sociale, che verrà organizzato alla fine di aprile per l’approvazione del bilancio 2021 dell’associazione e per la rendicontazione di questa missione. Adesso non resta che fare il countdown degli ultimi giorni prima della partenza, con l’augurio che dopo questa prima missione ce ne possano essere altre nel corso del 2022. Come sempre per il presidente la missione sarà densa di impegni con tutte le attività di monitoraggio e coordinamento, più che mai necessarie dopo due anni di assenza forzata del team dalla Cambogia. Finalmente si potrà fare l’inaugurazione ufficiale delle 4 nuove aule costruite nel corso del 2020, inaugurazione tenuta in sospeso proprio in attesa del primo viaggio utile del presidente a Kep. Come dice il titolo di una famosa canzone di Ligabue, “Sarà un bel souvenir”. Seguite il nostro diario di missione. Stay tuned, state sintonizzati. Oggi 2 maggio 2021 ricorre il decennale della fondazione della nostra Associazione A Smile for Cambodia Onlus. / Today May 2, 2021 marks the tenth anniversary of the founding of our Association A Smile for Cambodia Onlus.

Ne è passata di acqua sotto i ponti in questi 10 anni e tante iniziative sono state realizzate grazie al supporto di tutti voi. / A lot of water has passed under the bridges in these 10 years and many initiatives have been realized thanks to the support of all of you.

L’attività di sostegno di progetti di altre ONG in Cambogia nei primi due anni di attività 2011 e 2012, con il sostegno del Centro di Via del Campo e di Neak Loeung di CIFA e dell’orfanotrofio di Happy Land realizzato dalla ONG di Hong Kong Happy Tree fuori Phnom Penh (proseguito fino al 2016). La visita al villaggio nella discarica di Phnom Penh nel 2012. / Supporting other NGOs’ projects in Cambodia in the first two years in 2011 and 2012, with support for CIFA’s Via del Campo and Neak Loeung Center and Happy Tree’s (a Hong Kong based NGO) Happy Land Orphanage outside Phnom Penh (continued through 2016). The village visit to the Phnom Penh landfill in 2012.

Poi l’avvio del Progetto a Kep nel 2013 e l’avvio del Progetto Sostegni a Distanza con la nostra organizzazione gemella Shade for Children che da allora gestisce operativamente il Progetto. La prima sede del nostro Centro in affitto da agosto 2013 a maggio 2014. / Then the launch of the Project in Kep in 2013 and the start of the Distant Adoption Project with our sister organization Shade for Children which has been operationally managing the Project ever since. The first location of our Center rented from August 2013 to May 2014.

L’acquisto dell’attuale sede del Centro nel corso del 2014, proprio nelle risaie antistanti la prima sede, e il trasferimento delle attività a metà 2014. / The purchase of the Center’s current location during 2014, right in the rice fields in front of the first location, and the relocation of activities in mid-2014.

A fine 2014 la costruzione della copertura esterna per formare uno spazio coperto da utilizzare come aula e come spazio per gli eventi e la costruzione della biblioteca, con il contributo decisivo di uno sponsor corporate che ci donò la somma necessaria per la campagna natalizia. / At the end of 2014, the construction of the external roof to form a covered space to be used as a classroom and as a space for events and the construction of the library, with the decisive contribution of a corporate sponsor who donated us the necessary sum for the Christmas campaign.

L’avvio della scuola di danza tradizionale Khmer nel 2015, con la formazione del nostro mini corpo di ballo, che veniva anche invitato agli eventi delle scuole e delle altre organizzazioni di charity nella provincia di Kep. / The start of the traditional Khmer dance school in 2015, with the formation of our mini dance troupe, which was also being invited to events of schools and other charity organizations in Kep province.

La continua crescita dei bambini assistiti dal nostro Centro, adesso ben oltre i 200, con i Sostegni a Distanza in crescita di anno in anno fino a raggiungere i 126 nel corso del 2020. / The continuous growth of children assisted by our Center, now well over 200, with Distant Adoptions growing year by year until it reached 126 in 2020.

Tutte le migliorie apportate al nostro Centro, con lo scavo di un nuovo pozzo, la posa di nuovi lavandini per i bambini sia nella parte posteriore che nella parte anteriore del Centro, la sistemazione di quella che era la vecchia porcilaia con la rimozione di tutti i residui e la pavimentazione della parte posteriore del Centro. / All of the improvements made to our Center, including digging a new well, installing new sinks for the children in both the back and front of the Center, fixing up what was the old pigpen with all the debris removed, and paving the back of the Center.

E intanto qui in Italia partivano e si intensificavano le relazioni con il Gruppo UBI per il Progetto Un Giorno in dono, che portava volontari della banca a scendere sul campo con noi a fare raccolta fondi e distribuzioni di materiale. L’entrata nell’Istituto Italiano Donazione con il riconoscimento del logo Associazione Riconosciuta da IID. L’avvio del progetto “Adotta una famiglia”, in collaborazione con i servizi sociali del Comune di Mariano, che ci ha permesso di dare supporto ad alcune famiglie monogenitore in difficoltà. Il progetto di sostegno di una scuola di Fabriano colpita dal terremoto in Centro Italia del 2016. / In the meantime, here in Italy, relations with UBI banking Group began and intensified for the Un Giorno in dono project, which brought volunteers from the bank into the field with us to raise funds and distribute material. Nel 2017 e nel 2018 partecipiamo, grazie all’inserimento in IID, all’iniziativa di Coop Lombardia, “Una mano per la scuola” che ci consente di raccogliere oltre 10.000 euro di materiale scolastico, distribuito l’anno successivo a oltre una ventina di scuole, asili, doposcuola, scuole per stranieri, collocate sul nostro territorio. / In 2017 and 2018 we participate, thanks to the inclusion in IID, in the initiative of Coop Lombardia, “A hand for the school” that allows us to collect over 10,000 euros of school supplies, distributed the following years to over twenty schools, kindergartens, after-school, schools for foreigners, located in our territory.

Nel 2019 parte il progetto di ampliamento del nostro Centro a Kep, con l’acquisto a gennaio del terreno adiacente alla nostra sede e con i primi lavori di sistemazione e livellamento, oltre che di recinzione e sistemazione della strada di accesso. / In 2019, the project to expand our Center in Kep gets underway, with the purchase in January of the land adjacent to our headquarters and the initial work of landscaping and leveling, as well as fencing and fixing the access road.

Sempre nel 2019 siamo ammessi al progetto “La Spesa che fa bene” per il sociale, organizzata da Iperal sul territorio, e destiniamo i fondi raccolti per il supporto del nostro progetto “Adotta una famiglia”. L’iniziativa si è ripetuta quest’anno, ancora con focus sul supporto di famiglie in ambito locale. / Also in 2019 we are admitted to the project “La Spesa che fa bene” for social, organized by Iperal in the territory, and we allocate the funds collected for the support of our project “Adopt a family”. The initiative was repeated this year, again with a focus on supporting families in the local area.

Nel 2020 parte la costruzione del nuovo edificio destinato ad accogliere 4 nuove aule. L’avvio dei lavori è a febbraio, con la cerimonia di benedizione del terreno destinato ad accogliere il nuovo edificio, alla presenza delle nostre volontarie Jane Hartley e Fernanda Elli. / In 2020, construction begins on the new building intended to house 4 new classrooms. The start of construction is in February, with a ceremony to bless the land destined to house the new building, attended by our volunteers Jane Hartley and Fernanda Elli.

La costruzione procede veloce fino al completamento alla fine di luglio del 2020. Il tutto in piena pandemia che blocca la gran parte delle iniziative di raccolta fondi qui in Italia e le iniziative del nostro Centro in Cambogia, che rimane chiuso per la maggior parte del 2020, anche se in Cambogia allora si registravano poche centinaia di casi di Covid e nessun decesso. / Construction proceeded quickly until completion at the end of July 2020. All this in the midst of the pandemic crisis that halts most of the fundraising initiatives here in Italy and the initiatives of our Center in Cambodia, which remains closed for most of 2020, although in Cambodia at that time there were a few hundred cases of Covid and no deaths.

La realizzazione delle nuove aule è l’ultimo evento di questa storia decennale, l’ultimo in ordine di tempo, non certo l’ultimo perchè abbiamo concluso la nostra missione in Cambogia, tanto che già oggi abbiamo lanciato il progetto per la sistemazione del tetto della parte vecchia del Centro dove vanno fatte sia riparazioni che sostituzioni di materiali divenuti obsoleti e pericolosi. E per questo stiamo già lavorando con i nostri associati. / The realization of the new classrooms is the last event of this ten-year history, the last in order of time, certainly not the last because we have concluded our mission in Cambodia, so much so that we have already launched the project for the repair of the roof of the old part of the Center where both repairs and replacement of materials that have become obsolete and dangerous must be done. And for this we are already working with our associates.

In tutti questi anni è stato fondamentale il supporto dei volontari che hanno messo a disposizione il loro tempo, le loro risorse e le loro energie per dare un contributo allo sviluppo del progetto. Un grazie ad ognuno di loro per essere stati con noi e aver contribuito in modo decisivo alla diffusione del nostro messaggio. / Throughout these years, the support of the volunteers has been fundamental; they have provided their time, resources and energy to contribute to the development of the project. We would like to thank each and every one of them for being with us and making a decisive contribution to spreading our message.

E così pure in tutti questi anni, ci ha accompagnato un evento che in certo modo è diventato un po’ il nostro simbolo, Io Disegno per la Cambogia, che partito già prima della costituzione della Onlus, nel 2009, è proseguito con cadenza annuale fino alla undicesima edizione del 2019 ed è stato interrotto solo dal Covid nel 2020, per la prima volta da quando esiste l’associazione. Un appuntamento e una tradizione che ci auguriamo di poter riprendere al più presto, magari anche già da questo 2021, che qualche spiraglio di speranza di uscita dalla situazione pandemica sta iniziando a darlo, pur con tutte le prudenze del caso. / And so, in all these years, we have been accompanied by an event that has become our symbol, Io Disegno per la Cambogia (Drawing for Cambodia), which started before the establishment of the non-profit organization, in 2009, and continued on an annual basis until the eleventh edition in 2019 and was interrupted only by Covid in 2020, for the first time since the association has existed. An appointment and a tradition that we hope to be able to resume as soon as possible, perhaps even as early as this 2021, which is beginning to give some glimmer of hope of exit from the pandemic situation, albeit with all the caution of the case.

Importantissima adesso è per noi la campagna per il 5 per mille dell’IRPEF, destinata a dare ulteriore solidità presente e futura al progetto. / Vitally important for us now is the campaign for the 5 per thousand of IRPEF (italian support of no profit organizations through the voluntary destination of 0,5% of each contributor’s taxes), intended to give further present and future strength to the project.
